Senior Portraits at Ponce Inlet Beach in Volusia County
Ponce Inlet is one of my favorite locations for senior portraits in Volusia County. The combination of sand dunes, sea oats, open beach, and the inlet waterway gives several distinct looks in a single session. These photos from Danica’s sunset senior session show how well the location works when paired with golden hour light.
I photographed this session during the final hour of daylight. The warm, soft light and natural coastal setting created a relaxed feel that many seniors in the Daytona Beach area want for their senior portraits.
Why I Recommend Ponce Inlet for Beach Senior Photos
Located at the southern end of Daytona Beach in Volusia County, Ponce Inlet offers a variety of backdrops within walking distance. During a session I can photograph seniors on the open beach with the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse visible in the distance, among the sand dunes and sea grass, and along the calmer waterway where the sunset reflects on the water.
This versatility is why Ponce Inlet remains one of the most requested locations for senior portrait photography in Volusia County. Seniors get a diverse gallery without needing to travel between multiple sites.
What a Sunset Senior Portrait Session Looks Like
I schedule most beach senior sessions in the last 60 to 90 minutes before sunset. The light during this time is soft and flattering compared to harsh midday sun. As the sun drops lower, the tones shift from bright and airy in the dunes to rich golden hues near the water.
I typically recommend that seniors bring two to three outfit changes. This lets me create different looks as the light evolves. Danica brought 4 outfits for her 2 hour photo session and all of the outfits complemented the coastal setting and sunset colors.
